The Turkish Patent and Trademark Office published significant changes in the country’s official Classification of Goods and Services list on December 20, 2024. The changes made according to international standards and emerging market needs include introducing certain new goods and services and removing some of them.
Major Updates and Notable Changes
Additions: The new additions include various goods and services designed to address modern industrial, commercial, and technological advancements.
The list acknowledges emerging tech advancements, including categories such as Artificial Intelligence Robots, 3D Printing Services, and Electric Vehicle Charging Stations.
New goods for Vegan Food Supplements, Eco-friendly Cleaning Products, and Sustainable Packaging Solutions reflect evolving lifestyle trends.
Digital services have expanded to include Cryptocurrency Software, NFT Platforms, and E-Commerce Marketplace Services.
Removals: Some unnecessary or outdated goods and services have been removed from the classification.
To conform to contemporary industry standards, outdated or less relevant items such as Analog Telephone Equipment, Traditional Film Development Services, and outdated Mechanical Cash Registers were removed.
Certain specialty services with little market demand, such as Fax Machine Repair Services and Teletext Systems, were also eliminated.

The new classification will most likely have a considerable impact on enterprises conducting business in Türkiye, especially those that involve intellectual property rights. Enterprises planning to register new trademarks are advised to refer to the updated list to ensure efficient classification and avoid delays in the registration process.
